History of Rose-Hip Vital® in Australia

Distributed by Rose-Hip Vital Pty Ltd, Rose-Hip Vital Canine was first launched into the Australian market in September 2012 Following an intensive APVMA application process (Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority) lasting more than 3 years.

This boutique Australian owned family business located in Chatswood, New South Wales, is best known for its evidence-based anti-inflammatory supplement for joint health and general wellbeing, Rose-Hip Vital® with GOPO®. Committed to supporting quality of life, Rose-Hip Vital Pty Ltd deliver on their promise by providing only 100% pure and natural products made from patented rosehip powder imported from Denmark.

Hyben Vital ApS, the farming and manufacturing company for Rose-Hip Vital® in Australia, is also a family-owned company based on the Danish Island of Langeland. Since the early 1980s, it has specialised in manufacturing specialised products from rosehip.

In the early 1980′s, a Danish Osteoarthritis sufferer, Erik ‘Farmer’ Hansen, dissatisfied with other forms of therapy, was recommended to try rosehip marmalade. Highly impressed with the symptomatic relief, Farmer Hansen began small scale production and distribution of dried rosehip powder – and letters of appreciation from thousands of satisfied customers soon followed.

What started on a few acres in the early 1980’s has grown into over 200 hectares with some 40 professional farmers in Denmark and Sweden growing rosehip full-time to keep up with the demand.

A highly specialised machine imported from Italy delivers a unique planting process by laying down plastic sheeting to insert young plants into the ground at precise intervals. Plants are left to mature for 3 to 4 years before harvesting. This give plants time to produce the best quality fruits, allowing their amazing root system to dive deep into the ground (well below the ploughing level) where they can draw precious trace minerals from soil that has not been depleted by modern agricultural practices. No pesticides or fertilizers are used as this method ensures weeds are never a problem. Once planted, nature does all the amazing work with no artificial interference.

In 1995, Hansen’s son was able to deliver some of the 5000 letters of recommendation his father received to an inflammation specialist based at Fredricksberg Hospital, University of Copenhagen in Denmark, who upon reviewing the feedback decided there may be validity in instigating clinical trials to assess at a formal scientific level, the validity of the reported success, and so, in vitro studies were instigated, bringing impressive results, supporting the high effectiveness of the rosehip preparation.

Thanks to many years of intensive research and development, the active ingredients in the rosehip have since been identified, and the unique method used by Hyben Vitals ApS has been patented worldwide. This special drying process of the rosehip isolates the patented compound GOPO® which is unique to Rose-Hip Vital®.
